…Religious Communities Called to Improve Workers’ Lives

The Interfaith Council on Economics and Justice (ICEJ) is an association of faith leaders. We educate and mobilize the Santa Clara County religious community to support economic and social justice through social policy. We support issues and campaigns that improve the quality of life for low wage workers and their families by such means as improving wages, benefits and working conditions.

The Interfaith Council on Economics and Justice is a program of Working Partnerships USA.

The Core Team will participate in a five-day retreat July 26-30 focusing on the Native American culture of New Mexico with special emphasis on service, interfaith dialogue and discovering shared religious values regarding faith and justice.
  • WPUSA's Life in the Valley Economy 2012 (LIVE 2012) report on how the Silicon Valley economy is affecting working families is scheduled for publication in late summer/early fall. Read the 2010 report here.

What We Do

Support Workers – In partnership with low-wage working families, we seek to educate faith communities on workplace justice issues.

Foster Economic Justice Through Public Policy – The Interfaith Council educates faith communities on public policy issues, especially in the areas of quality jobs, affordable housing, and immigration rights. Our members advocate for local and regional initiatives that create a stronger community for everyone.

Labor in the Pulpits – The Labor in the Pulpits (also Labor in the Bimah or Minbar) program brings the worker's voice into worship services. These events reminded us of the sacred connection between faith and work and help us renew our commitment to fight for justice in our community.

Educational Events – The Interfaith Council hosts a number of interactive events and workshops that support members of the clergy and their congregations in the areas of economic justice and social policy.
